SphereCel core materials are made of non woven textiles that are volumized with thermoplastic microspheres. There are different types in 1.2 – 12 mm thickness that are commonly used in open and closed mold processes. SphereCel products are suitable for making fiber reinforced components from 4-30 mm thickness; both flat or of complex geometry. Using SphereCel means weight savings of up to 40-60% compared to solid fiberglass laminates with comparable mechanical properties.
For open mold process:
SphereCel® PE: based on polyester veil, 1-5 mm thickness
SphereCel® SBF: based on fiberglass veil, 6, 8, 10 mm thickness
SphereCel® HX: hexagonal structure, 2 mm thickness
For closed mold process:
SphereCel® SBF-CM: with integrated flow medium, 6, 8, 10 mm thickness
SphereCel® PrintBlock: as surface improvement, 2 mm thickness
SphereCel® HX-CM: Hexagonal structure, 2 mm thickness
